Desi's Mosaic — From Brokenness to Restoration
I didn’t grow up knowing what peace felt like.
Home was never steady. It was filled with addiction, chaos, and constant change. One house to another. One situation to the next. I was a child trying to survive in environments that shaped pain into something that felt… normal.
So I followed what I knew.
I started drinking young. I stepped into the same cycles I had been surrounded by. And as the years passed, I didn’t just brush against brokenness—I lived in it. Toxic relationships, deep wounds, and a quiet emptiness that never seemed to go away.
I knew about God.
But I didn’t know Him.
At 16, I gave my life to Him—but it wasn’t surrender. It was fear. And fear doesn’t transform you—it just pauses you. So I kept going… deeper into the same patterns, the same pain, the same searching for something that could fill what felt so empty inside.
Then life shifted.
I became a mother. And later, I met my husband. For the first time, I saw a glimpse of something different—a life that felt stable, full, maybe even hopeful. We built a family. Five beautiful children. From the outside, it looked like everything had finally come together.
But behind closed doors… our marriage was falling apart.
The weight of it all became unbearable. Nights filled with tears. Days filled with silence. I felt alone even when I wasn’t. I prayed desperately—asking God to fix what felt beyond repair.
But nothing changed overnight.
And slowly… I began to shut down.
I grew tired. Not just physically—but deep in my soul. I stopped fighting. I stopped hoping. I poured everything I had into my children because they were the only thing I felt certain about.
And in that place… I let go of the idea that my marriage could ever be restored.
But God didn’t let go.
Right when I had nothing left to give—He stepped in.
Not in a way I could control. Not in a way I could orchestrate. But in a way only He could do… He transformed my husband’s heart. Completely. What I couldn’t fix, He restored. What I thought was dead, He brought back to life.
And slowly… we found our way back.
Conversations turned into connection. Pain turned into forgiveness. Distance turned into healing. Piece by piece, God rebuilt what I had already grieved.
He didn’t just fix a marriage—
He revealed who He truly is.
A God who restores.
A God who shows up in the middle of the breaking.
A God who never leaves—even when we feel forgotten.
Today, I look at my life and see His fingerprints everywhere. A husband who loves deeply. Five healthy, beautiful children. A life that once felt completely out of reach.
But I haven’t forgotten where I came from.
I haven’t forgotten the nights I cried myself to sleep. The moments I felt completely lost. The weight of thinking I wouldn’t make it through.
And I haven’t forgotten this truth:
Even then… He was there.
Carrying me when I didn’t even know I needed to be carried.
If He can take a life like mine—full of chaos, pain, and hopelessness—and turn it into something whole… something healed… something beautiful—
He can do the same for you.
Even now.
Even here.
Even in the middle of your pain.
All He’s asking is that you trust Him.
